Pear, or health itself

Pear (pl. gruszka) is a leading element in our menu. It refers to the name of the restaurant and the place where the restaurant is located. A fourteenth-century tenement house at ul. Szczepańska 1 was built around 1300 and named ‘Sub Pira’ or ‘Sub Pyrn’. In Polish it translates to ‘Pod Gruszka’, in English – ‘Under the Pear’.
The menu has been created for traditional dishes with elements of European cuisine. Composed so that it includes both light brunch and sumptuous dinner. The menu includes proposals for both lovers of tradition and for those who appreciate the flavors of not only Polish cuisine. Pear appears in many dishes. Why is it worth taking a closer look at this seemingly well-known fruit? The health properties of pears can be a big surprise.
All about pear
Pears can be used in the kitchen in various ways – they are a perfect compositon both with desserts and main courses. Their sweet taste goes with meat, cheese or salads. They are also a source of many vitamins and minerals.
In Europe, pears have been known for centuries. They even marked their place in Homer’s Odyssey. Julius Caesar, who cultivated pears in his gardens, was also their great fan. These fruit are a source of fiber, they have anti-inflammatory properties, strengthen the heart and reduce the risk of cancer. Their properties and nutritional values have been used for centuries. Used for cold and cough, and even for fever, they became a natural remedy.
Today, pear is still considered a fruit that ensures the harmonious functioning of the entire body. It soothes digestive problems, helps proper functioning of the thyroid gland (thanks to iodine) and prevents blood clotting thus improving circulation in the body (thanks to vitamin K).
Pear improves mood, because the copper it contains supports mental stability and affects memory and learning processes.

There are a lot of ideas for pear desserts, but this one is unique. We marinate our pear in white wine and flavoury syrup. Sour forest fruit sauce breaks the sweet taste of pear, and the marzipan bottom adds more elegance and character to it. We can’t reveal all the secrets of this dessert, so come and see for you
