Some of them we grow ourselves and others come from local farmers. Pod Gruszką is full of secrets, not all of which we can disclose, yet the quality of the products is definitely one of them.

Krakow armosphere

Apart from its rich history Pod Gruszką is the centre of Krakow’s artistic and intellectual life. Since 1951 there has been the Journalist Club in the building. Many prominent Polish artists, journalists and writers have been its guests and members – you can sometimes meet them at our restaurant and some of their photos decorate our walls.
They come to the restaurant to escape from the bustle of the Market Square and admire the view.

Pod Gruszką is located on the first floor of the 14th century tenement by Krakow’s Main Market Square. The place’s historical name ‘Pod Gruszką’ (originally ‘Sub Pira’ or ‘Sub Pyrn’) translates as ‘Under the Pear’. One of the house’s interiors is called the Fontana’s Hall – it is recognized as one of the most beautiful baroque interiors in Poland. The ornaments resemble those in the church of St. Thomas at Castel Gandolfo. This room is considered the oldest in the building, with a Romanesque vault, rich in ornaments and Dutch wall tiles from the 17th century.

Our dishes are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We rely on locally grown fruit and vegetables, some of which come from our own garden and orchard. The perfect composition of those ingredients makes our menu unique – we do our best to make it taste and look impressive.

Here you can feel the real atmosphere of Krakow’s Old Town. From the windows you can see the amazing view of The Cloth Hall and the City Hall Tower. Beautiful bar, antique furniture and decorated walls will move you to the world of historic Krakow.

Hall

The Hall is adjacent to the Bar Room. It is perfect for a poetry evening, concert, live music show, lecture or chamber theatre play. It is the most historic and unique room in the restaurant. It fits 70 people.

Green

Room

Stylish decor, antique furniture with modern elements – this is a perfect place for family meetings, business events and festive dinners. If you are wondering where to organise a wedding or a birthday party – visit us and book a table in the Green Room.
